Distinguished Awards in Teaching Programme

The °®Éñ´«Ã½ Distinguished Awards in Teaching programme recognises and encourages excellence in teaching in the US and abroad.

The  (°®Éñ´«Ã½ DA) provides an opportunity for K–12 educators from the United States to conduct research and engage in other professional learning experiences abroad for three to six months. °®Éñ´«Ã½ Distinguished fellows complete individual inquiry projects on a topic relevant to education in the United States and the host country, take courses at a host university, and share educational practices with colleagues.

The Distinguished Awards in Teaching are a separate and distinct programme to the core Scholar Awards.

Applications are now open for 2025.

About applying

The application process for the °®Éñ´«Ã½ Distinguished Awards in Teaching is facilitated by the International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX). Please contact IREX via fulbrightDA@irex.org if you have any questions about the programme.

The following UK institutions have agreed to host °®Éñ´«Ã½ Distinguished Teachers:

Applicants are asked to research the UK partner institutions listed and if they have a preference, to indicate this preference in the Inquiry Project Proposal of the application. Indicating a preference is optional and will not impact the selection process.

Please note that the US-UK °®Éñ´«Ã½ is unable to place teachers at non-partner institutions.   

US Distinguished Teaching Awards application timeline

The °®Éñ´«Ã½ Distinguished Awards in Teaching programme operates a summer-to-December application period, with very different requirements than the °®Éñ´«Ã½ US Scholars programme. Please consult for further details.
